Client acquisition makes FNIS largest Saskatchewan-based Indigenous pension service provider
February 28, 2022
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – First Nations Insurance Services Limited Partnership (FNIS) announced
today an agreement with White Fox Financial Services Inc., that expands the company’s client base and
capacity in financial services as part of an ambitious strategic growth plan, making it the largest
Indigenous Saskatchewan-based pension service provider.
Jeremy Sloan, owner and CEO of White Fox Financial Services Inc., has extensive experience in the
insurance and financial management sector and was open to partnership opportunities that would
enhance the strengths and expertise of his team and bring greater value to clients, especially First
Nation-based organizations.
“This agreement was the absolute right fit for our team and clients,” says Jeremy Sloan. “FNIS
understands this sector better than anyone else, and I’m looking forward to working with their team to
continue to provide top-notch services to our existing clients, and to building new relationships with
new organizations and communities.”
FNIS has been actively planning for growth and seeking out partnerships to enhance the company’s
capacity and increase its client base.
“We’ve been gearing up for the past few years, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce this
acquisition,” says FNIS Managing Director Tammy McKay. “We knew from the beginning that it made a
lot of sense for FNIS and are proud to expand our services in order to help more clients protect their
health and finances.”
FNIS was founded in 1987 when the Chief and Council of Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) decided to
address the need for a unique benefits option for First Nations people. More than three decades later,
FNIS has expanded significantly from its focus on addressing Health Canada insurance-related service
gaps for First Nations with its own FNIS Group Insurance Plan, to a full range of services for Indigenous
and non-Indigenous clients with group insurance and pension plans, life and disability insurance,
pension and insurance plan conversions, personal health insurance, and more.
“After more than three decades, FNIS has earned a reputation for quality service that people can
depend on,” says Tammy Cook-Searson, Chief of LLRIB and President of Kitsaki Management. “It’s been
really great to see how FNIS has grown, and expanding the client base is such a natural next step. We’re
all looking forward to where the FNIS leadership team takes the company in the years ahead.”
